ποΈAbout Mille Lacs Lake
Mille Lacs Lake is Minnesota's second-largest inland lake and arguably the state's most famous walleye factory. Located in central Minnesota about 100 miles north of the Twin Cities, "Big Lake" as locals call it has produced generations of legendary walleye fishing. The lake's vast mud flats, rock reefs, and gravel bars create ideal walleye habitat, while its sheer size (132,516 acres) means there's always room to find your own water.
Mille Lacs means "thousand lakes" in French. The Ojibwe people have fished these waters for centuries, and the lake remains culturally significant to the Mille Lacs Band.
